Kalma Life offers the highest standards of a range of yoga and mindfulness classes for mums
during the pre and post-natal period, babies and children in Southtyneside and Gateshead.
Our award winning, fully inclusive classes provide a safe and welcoming environment for
children and parents to practice yoga and mindfulness, and provide the tools and
techniques to manage their own wellness emotionally and physically.

Kalma Baby
6 weeks – 6 months
The first movements to a foundation of wellness lies with our Award Winning baby yoga
classes. Devoted to aiding your baby’s development in a safe and stimulating environment.
Baby yoga helps aid better sleeping patterns, supports the digestive system and gives
parents greater confidence.
Baby yoga sessions can be started after a health check, and have been designed for both
parents and baby to experience yoga stretches and relaxation stretches together.
Our 45 minute sessions are engaging and educational, following the Early Years framework.
Focusing on active yoga inspired stretches to music, song and rhyme along with sensory
props, concluding with relaxation.

6 months – 18 months
The first movements to a foundation of wellness lies with our Award Winning baby yoga
classes. Devoted to aiding your baby’s development in a safe and stimulating environment.
Baby yoga helps aid better sleeping patterns, supports the digestive system and gives Parents greater confidence.

Baby yoga sessions can be started after a health check, and have been designed for both
parents and baby to experience yoga stretches and relaxation stretches together.
Our 45 minute sessions are engaging and educational, following the Early Years framework.
Focusing on active yoga inspired stretches to music, song and rhyme along with sensory
props, concluding with relaxation.
Once babies are sitting unaided a faster pace is introduced, with structured focus on
balance, coordination and reaching milestones.

Toddlers stretch dance and breathe their way through 45 minutes of yoga each week, with
themed Early years structured sessions, using stories, music, song and sensory props.
Sessions empower and inspire confidence in your children letting them use their imaginations.

A child who learns yoga, mindfulness and relaxation will develop essential skills for a lifetime of health and wellness. With benefits such as:

Our Pre school classes build on foundations set in baby and toddler yoga, encouraging children to be confident in their own independent yoga practice to build self esteem. We incorporate stories and games for a fun and stimulating class, while developing flexibility strength and coordination. Yoga for children is becoming popular as a way to helping children to feel more comfortable and confident with their bodies.
Pre-teens (5 – 11 Years) children’s minds & wellbeing
Our Pre teens classes focus on encouraging children to make a connection between their physical and emotional state. Using introductory breathing techniques alongside yoga stretches and mindfulness promoting self awareness, relaxation, and increasing concentration. Giving children tools to build and maintain relationships through partner and group work, allowing children to understand and process feelings of others and themselves.

Yoga for Autism
Our fabulous Kalma yoga classes designed especially for those on the autistic spectrum to enjoy. From the venue, music and lighting, to preparing and making them feel welcome, these sessions still offer all the benefits of a yoga class for their age group but in an environment the yogis can feel safe. It is well known that children with autism gain a great deal from physical activity and in yoga they can push themselves and also learn techniques to help them with the frustrations that daily life can sometimes bring.
SPELL is The National Autistic Society’s framework for understanding and responding to the needs of children and adults on the autism spectrum. It focuses on five principles that have been identified as vital elements of best practice in autism, and emphasises ways to change the environment and our approaches to meet the specific needs of each person. SPELL is the approach inside all our Autism Friendly classes.
